Blogging plays a really important part in bringing traffic to your website and creating conversions. But this only works if you're getting the right people looking at your blogs at the right time. Some people may think of blogging as the 'fluffy' type of marketing and in some aspects they're right! But 'fluffy marketing' does not go unnoticed if you're doing it correctly. As well as generating your leads, it should be building your brand awareness, educating your audience and inspiring new people to get in contact with you.

Top Tip #1 - Understand your audience and create valuable content

Before you start writing your blog content, you need to understand who your audience is. Usually, your audience will be your customer base, but, as well as that, you'll want to attract new customers. To find out how your customers and leads behave you should be using a CRM system that logs their activity so that you can create personas/ audience profiles. After you've understood who you are targeting, ask yourself questions like, what problems can you solve for your audience? What is your audience looking for? What value can you add?

Top Tip #2 - Research keywords for your content

Did you know that 30% of consumers say that content quality makes a blog more credible? Research is the key to getting content correct every time, otherwise, you'll be guessing what it is that you need to write about. There are a variety of different tools you can use to perform keyword research, for example, Google Keyword Planner, Google Trends and SEMRush. This will give you an overview of the keyword's search volume (number of average searches), CPC for paid advertising, and number of search results. Conducting keyword research will allow you to find out what search terms people are looking for. 

Top Tip #3 - Include your content in your newsletter and emails

Promoting your content on social media is essential if you want to attract new traffic. At we use Hootsuite to schedule all of our social media posts in an organised and automated way. We have created a social media strategy to use on Hootsuite where we post at a certain time in the day and only one to two pieces of content per day. We also know what type of content we need to put out to get good levels of engagement. 

Social media is a great place for other businesses to interact with your blogs. Encourage people to like, comment on and share your content because this will increase the amount of views that you get.

Tip #5 - Collaborate with other businesses

Collaborating on blogs is a great way of getting your brand out there on other businesses' websites. A great collaboration tool you could use for this is! The other benefit of collaborating on blogs is that you can learn techniques that other people use within their content. Forming relationships with other creative writers will enhance your skills and also allow you to educate others.
